| My painting is based on a sketch Ed made on a Post-it note one day in my office. It showed Bahapta the elephant poised on the edge of a diving board, trying to summon the courage to jump into the waiting pool. Two words were written at the top: Dive In. I put the Post-it on the edge of my computer screen, knowing that one day Id commission Ed to recreate it on canvas. Whenever I see that painting, there is no doubt in my mind that Bahapta is me. In fact, she is anyone who has ever been afraid to step into the unknown to claim a personal victory. She lets us know its OK to be a little apprehensive, as long as we dont let it get in the way of diving in, making a splash, and having a great time. |
